There is More to Cleaning Than Soap and Water

While food service is important for maintaining worker morale and productivity, housekeeping and cleaning services are also important. Sodexo provides a comprehensive housekeeping program for quarters, office, and public areas to ensure a high standard of hygiene, safety, and personal comfort for camp residents at all times. The purpose of Sodexo's housekeeping services is not only to produce a first class appearance and to maintain the professional image of the camp living quarters and furnishings, but also to provide residents with an acceptable environment in which to live and work and to ensure that all living areas are safe and hygienic.

General Principles

There is a set of general principles that should apply to any cleaning system. The cleaning must be unobtrusive so as not to interrupt with ongoing activities of camp residents. Cleaning staff should exude a professional appearance, attitude, and demeanor at all times. Sodexo site managers inspect all areas daily to confirm that specific cleaning schedules are adhered to with the frequencies defined by contract terms. additionally:

Cleaning supplies are kept in storage areas, separate from food areas. Distribution of cleaning materials is controlled to ensure that the correct products reach the appropriate cleaning personnel in the event of an accident. MSDS information is also covered in weekly safety meetings.

Sodexo performs a detailed task analysis when opening a new camp facility. This analysis becomes the basis of site-specific Cleaning Schedules that identify the tasks to be performed, frequencies, the type of cleaning agents to be used, necessary equipment, and safety precautions to be observed.

Laundry Services

Sodexo will provide personnel and sufficient supplies required to launder all camp linens such as bed sheets, pillow covers, towels and kitchen linens at frequencies determined by the contract scope of services. These will be laundered on a rotational basis, i.e. a different group of rooms receive linen changes each day.

Depending upon the scope of services agreed upon, Sodexo can also launder the work and personal clothing of camp residents.

Garbage Collection

Sodexo will supply a sufficient quantity of garbage receptacles for disposing of camp garbage. Until it is removed away from camp facilities, garbage and refuse will be stored at central collection points located near food production areas, dining rooms, warehouse, accommodations, offices, clinics and recreation rooms. Care will be taken to assure that the collection areas are able to block any smell and insect infiltration, etc. This will be accomplished through the use of dumpster units and secured garbage rooms.
